Tech Tips: Vending Machine Control Board Eprom Ram Clear

Is your machine doing all kinds of "weird" things.  Are motors only turning halfway, the keypad frozen up, the display frozen up, sometimes money is rejected?  Often times, clearing the ram on your control board, thereby erasing years of data that the machine has been building up, will cause many problems to be cleared up, and allow your machine to run faster and operate properly.  Clearing the ram will restore the machine to factory default settings, so you will have to re-price and re-program the machine after the clear is done.  Below is the simple procedure for clearing the ram chips on some common control boards.

Dixie Narco SIID control boards:

Unplug the machine > remove control board > remove control board cover > the nickel sized battery is located towards the upper center part of the board. Remove battery and socket with proper soldering equipment > allow battery to remain off the the board for at least 1 minute > install new battery quick release socket for a CR-2032 battery > install new CR-2032 battery > reinstall control board into the machine and reprogram and reprice.  *Note, all parts mentioned in this section, or in any other, and all tools necessary to perform the work described, can be obtained from Vendors Tech.  Call us at 970-623-1272 to purchase tools and parts.

Dixie Narco SIIDe control boards:

Unplug the machine > remove control board cover > remove nickel sized battery from its socket on the upper left hand corner of the board (remove glue carefully if there is glue holding the battery in place) > reinstall battery after 1 minute or more > put fresh hot glue over the battery to hold it in place > plug the machine back in and reprogram/price the machine.  *Note, if the battery is not in a removable socket, see steps above in the SIID ram clean instructions on how to remove and replace battery.

National 147/148 control boards:

Open machine door and hit the "up" arrow > hit the "right" arrow > press the number "0" four times then hit "Enter/Action" > hit the "Configure" button > hit the "right" arrow > hit the "down" arrow > hit the "right" arrow > hit the "down" arrow > press the "Enter/Action" button > wait until the display returns to "Ready", then reprogram and reprice the machine.

AP 6500/6600/7600 control boards:

Remove the control board cover > press the rubber button located directly below the "Check Price" button on the control board > press the number "10" on the keypad until all the numbers on the display are "0"s > take a pair of rubber or plastic handled needle nose pliers, and jump together the two solder contacts directly to the right of the rubber button, and above the door switch plug.  There is a trace labeled "Self Test" going to the top one of the two contacts.  Once you make a successful short between the two, all the lights on the control board will come on red.  Remove the pliers at that point > all motors will vend once each.  After one tray vends, press the number "14" until it moves to the next tray > after the gum and mint motors vend, press the number "14" until it no longer beeps, then remove and reapply power to the machine > reset pricing and programming.

AP 110/111/112/113 control boards:

Open the machine door > press the mode button > press the number "10" button > enter code "166768" then press the letter "C" > once the display returns to normal, remove and reapply power to the machine > reprice and reprogram.
